Barnet 1-0 Stevenage

A very competitive game against Barnet ended in a one nil defeat for manager Graham Westley's boys in our most recent pre season friendly.

A first half strike from Charlie MacDonald proved to be enough to separate the sides come full time, and to be fair there weren't many chances for either side in the game which played out with more commitment in terms of a battle rather than anything else.

Ahead of the game the gaffer gave Chris Whelpdale, Charlie Lee and trialist Connor Calcutt their first starts of pre season and Chris Day and Jon Ashton also came into the squad, but it was the Skrill Premier side who got out of the blocks quickest and could've taken the lead earlier than they did really.

After the first ten or so minutes, Stevenage came more into the game and had a few chances of our own, but the main thing to have come out of the game was the substitution of Ronnie Henry after only 15 minutes of the match had past as he went down in obvious pain following a strong challenge and had to be taken off the pitch following some lengthy treatment.

On the half hour mark Barnet took the lead and that did spark us into life and we should've levelled the scores within minutes, but failed to take the chance as it presented itself.

As the game played out we did have other opportunities but they all fell by the wayside as well.

All in, despite the loss, there will have been positives for the gaffer but he would've certainly preferred for at least a draw to come out of it.
